Through ‘Punjab Safe Motherhood initiative project’, JSCD provided maternal health services at the doorsteps of people in Sheikhupura and Nakana districts. The project established 24 hours Emergency Obstetric Care (EMoC) services through deputation of post graduate doctors from Lahore to government health facilities in Sheikhupura district. JSCD provided trainings to health care providers on safe motherhood issues, supplied the required medical equipment in district hospitals, created awareness and mobilized the community to utilize the maternal and child health services. Project linked medical colleges with primary and secondary care health facilities and provided a model to overcome the
current shortage of doctors in the rural areas.
